MRSÍ á aðild að Samtökum mannréttindastofnana í Evrópu, sem nefnast “Association of Human Rights Institutes” (AHRI). Stofnfundur samtakanna var haldinn á Íslandi 1999 og var framkvæmdastjóri MRSÍ kjörinn fyrsti formaður þeirra.
